Fabulous Foil | Artistic Confidence | Giveaway

Hello there, well I don't often have time to play and experiment as much as I would dearly like too, but last weekend there was some play time to spare and decided to experiment with my Loew Cornell Watercolor Cakes that I'd purchased earlier on this year (can you believe it's took all this time - life does seem to throw things at us and spare time does go out of the window.) 

Cut a stitched panel from watercolour card on my Silhouette Cameo. Chosen three pink colours from the Loew Cornell Watercolor set ( it had to be pink, you know me by now!!) spritz the watercolours with water from plastic spray bottle to get them moisten and then dampen the watercolour card first with a coat of water with wide brush and then brushed over with the paint, starting with the darkest pink and going down to the lightest. Spritz a little water over the panel and mopped away the excess water with a piece of kitchen roll. Mixed a little white paint with narrow brush from the same set and with my finger, I tapped the brush to creative splashes of paint.  

Spritz a little shimmer spray on tile and used a brush to create a sweep effect across the top half of the panel. Stamped hello friend from the W&W the big, the bold and the happy set using versa fine watercolour ink and my DIY stamp tool.  Pour over WOW bonding powder and heat set with heat tool to create a sticky bond then took a piece of gold foil and rubbed firmly over the sentiment, to create the foiled sentiment. (This technique comes out a little more rustic, but still looks very good and effective. These foils i've used were originally purchased last year and I forgot all about them...unbelievable I know, but I imagine this happens to us all!)  

Applied double sided foam tape to the back of the panel and adhered to black A2 US card blank that I made from sheet of black card and the big score board. To finish added a few gold sequins and adhered them with micro glue dots.

I have always loved being creative ever since I could remember, but when I attended secondary school, my artistic confidence took to a nose dive and at a all time low as a Art teacher actually commented that he thought I had no talent in Art, which I have to admit as stay with me even to this day and does effect my confidence when card making and  many of my cards have ended up in the bin, thinking they were no good. ( I realise this is naughty, but I when that doubt cloud comes over, it's hard to push it away)

Iced Coffee - Cream & Sugar | Doodlebug

Hello there, today I'm sharing a card that was inspired by a super adorable cut file I notice in Silhouette Store and just had purchase it and do something with it. The fact it's a Doodlebug image is even better because I've never had any Doodlebug products so when I found out that some of their collections are now available to use with Silhouette, I jumped at the chance of finally getting my hands on Doodlebug designs.  

Cut a sheet of  A4 white card down to A2 US card blank landscape card, opened the Silhouette Software firstly cut a scalloped stitched panel using cricut mat and sheet of neenah card just slightly smaller than card blank, next cut Valentine's out of Crelando red card using Megan font purchased in the Silhouette Store. Placed the crelando red card on the cricut mat and cut out and then created a offset slightly smaller and cut that out of Paperchase Transfusion space dust vellum (currently unavailable to purchase)    

Next using the print and cut option I cut out the Iced Coffee - Cream and Coffee Doodlebug image, assemble the image using double sided foam tape for added dimension, added the rosy cheeks with zig glue pen, for that added shimmer I spray some sheer shimmer spray sparkle on a ceramic tile and small paintbrush and brushed the shimmer on the cream and the sugar cubes (this is a more thriftier version of wink of Stella and works so well). Run the scalloped stitched panel through my cuttlebug 

in using a diy embossing folder from a earlier post I created on my Blog. Applied piece of funky double to the back of the panel using double sided tape and adhere onto the A2 US card blank. 

Adhered the Valentine's sentiment using zig fine glue pen on the back of the sentiment then placed onto the vellum, add a little zig fine glue pen to the back of the vellum and adhered on card blank just to the right of the landscape card. Placed double sided tape to the back of the Iced Coffee image and adhered to the card blank just left of the sentiment. Using my diy stamping tool and the Winnie and Walter - The big, The bold and the Happy stamp set stamped happy and day on strip of neenah card using versa fine onyx black ink pad and cut down to fit and applied double sided foam tape to the back and place on above and below the valentine's sentiment. To finish added a few iridescent sequins and adhered them with micro glue dots.

I think this will start a whole new love affair with Doodlebug Designs and will be back purchasing those sweet cut files from the Silhouette Store very soon. Do you love Doodlebug Designs too?
